- April 22 - Group of villagers and Adivasis starts Plachimada Coca-Cola struggle.[3][4][5]
- July 27 - Kumarakom boat disaster; State Water Transport Department boat accident near Kumarakom kills 29 passengers.[6]
- October 1 - Kerala State Road Transport Corporation launches Volvo B7R buses in Thiruvananthapuram - Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram - Palakkad routes and becomes the third government transport company in India to achieve this feat.[7][8]
- November 18 - A. P. J. Abdul Kalam inaugurates Akshaya project a Computer literacy and governance through ICT project of Government of Kerala.[9]
