Homa is an international video game developer and publishing company based in Paris, France with a primary focus on developing video games, mainly for mobile on both Android and iOS.

History[edit]

Homa was founded in 2018 by Daniel Nathan, Juan Jose Mostazo, and Olivier Le Bas in Paris, France. Nathan serves as Chief Executive Officer and Le Bas as Chief Revenue Officer. Mostazo, who previously served as Chief Technology Officer, now acts as Co-Founder.

On October 10, 2018 Homa published its first free-to-play game Balls VS Lasers in collaboration with Bloop studio. The game reached the top charts in South Korea, making it Homa’s first hit game. Two weeks later, their second game Tiny Cars, developed in collaboration with Studio Rouleau, was published and placed Homa on the radar to other future partnerships.

By January 2019, Homa had 10 full-time employees within the company. By June 2020, Homa had doubled in staff and continued exponential growth by subsuming IRL studio.[1] They opened their second office and gaming studio in Toulouse, France.

In February 2021, Homa raised a $15 million seed round led by e.ventures and Idinvest Partners.[2] Later that year in October, Northzone led a 2nd round injecting $50 million with participation of Singular, King and FuboTV founders as business angels and Spotify founder Daniel Ek’s family office.[3] In November, Homa acquired "Ducky Games[4]" to further expand.

In 2022, Homa raised an additional $100 million in series B funding co-led by Quadrille Capital and Headline, with the participation of Northzone, the leading crypto fund Fabric Ventures, Bpifrance (Large Venture), Eurazeo and Singular. This brings a total investment to $165 million.[5]

In 2023, Homa employs over 200 people hailing from more than 35 nationalities.

Homa Lab[edit]

Through Homa's no-code SDK built for the Unity game engine, game developers can execute real-time A/B testing, optimise game features and monetisation options.

In 2023, Homa released a new AI game idea module to further assist game creators in coming up with new hit games backed by data insights along with identifying new trends.[6]

Game developers can submit games through Homa Lab for the Homa experts to evaluate and potentially assess a partnership. The publisher has worked with over 1000 studios to date.

NERF Epic Pranks! was Homa’s first IP hypercasual game In collaboration with Hasbro.[7] Their game reached the #1 US top charts on the US Google Play store on May 5, 2020.

Homa's game "Merge and Fight", in partnership with Fusee, was the most downloaded mobile game worldwide in Q1 2022 and their game portfolio surpassed 1 Billion players globally.

In February 2023, Homa's game "Attack Hole", in collaboration with Redline Games, hit the number 1 spot in the US Apple App Store and Google Play games charts and number 1 in 30 other countries.

In October 2023, Homa released six games on Nintendo Switch.[8] Aquarium Land, Farmland, Merge Master, Zombie Raft, Zombie Escape, and Zombie Defense.
