Daniel Edward Winstead (November 1, 1945 – April 28, 2024), also known as Danny Winstead, was an American politician. He served as a Republican member of the South Carolina House of Representatives.

Life and career[edit]

Winstead was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina.[2] He attended Wade Hampton High School and Carson–Newman College.[3] Winstead served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1979[3] to 1990. He lost his seat as a result of Operation Lost Trust, after pleading guilty to accepting bribes and obstruction of justice.[4] He died on April 28, 2024, at the age of 78.[2]
