The Murder of İbrahim Oktugan, a Turkish teacher, occurred on 7 May 2024.

İbrahim Oktugan was the principal of the Eyüpsultan Final Academy Anatolian Private High School in the Alibeyköy neighborhood of Eyüpsultan, Istanbul. In December 2023, he expelled a problematic student from the school.[1] On 7 May 2024 at 10:00 in the morning, the student returned to the school unexpectedly, and upon seeing Oktugan doing his daily duties, he took out a pistol from his waistband and shot Oktugan five times, leaving him in critical condition. The shooter immediately fled the scene. Students and teachers panicked until police and ambulance came.[2] The shooter was later arrested and confirmed to be 16-year-old Yusuf K, from Iraq, who received Turkish citizenship with his family.[3][4] Although extensive measures were taken to save Oktugan, he died on the same day at 74 years old.[5][6]
