FTG Metro (born Manyok Akol; March 2, 2001 – January 8, 2020) was a rapper and songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Discography[edit]

FTG Metro’s releases frequently addressed themes of personal hardship and urban life. His lyrics often depicted Ritchie Street and the west-end housing complex where he resided. [1][2][3]

His song “Rainy Days,” released in October 2019 with YSL Reggie, was directed by Ben Telford. Another track, “Klout,” in collaboration with Toka Dinero, also received attention. [4]

Personal life[edit]

Akol was recognized as one of the top 90 youth football players in Ontario. In 2014, he won a provincial championship in the Ontario Varsity Football League with the Myers Riders Bantam Football Team.[5]

Death[edit]

FTG Metro was fatally shot on January 8, 2020 in an incident at an Airbnb rental in Ottawa, where three other males were also injured. It was the city's first homicide of the year. A teenager was later found guilty of 1st-degree murder and 3 counts of attempted murder.[6][7][8]

Ritchie Street rapper TwoTiime released a tribute single titled "Hood Cry" in February 2020 in honour of Akol.[9][10]
