XEJCC-AM is a radio station on 720 AM in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. It is operated by Grupo Radio Centro and is known as La Z with a Regional Mexican format.

History[edit]

XEJCC received its concession on November 27, 1989. Initially operating on 1520 kHz with a daytime power of 1,000 watts, the station was owned by Ana Patricia Eulalia Núñez Cervera. During these early years, XEJCC served as a vital source of information, entertainment, and music for the local community.

In 2006, Grupo Impulsor de Medios, owned by various executives of Radiorama, acquired XEJCC. This acquisition marked a turning point for the station. In March 2010, XEJCC received approval to move from 1520 kHz to 720 kHz, enhancing its coverage and expanding its reach.

The transition to the new frequency allowed XEJCC to continue its commitment to quality content. La Z became a beloved companion for listeners, offering a seamless blend of Regional Mexican music, engaging talk shows, and local news. The station celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Chihuahua, connecting with its audience through the magic of radio waves.

In October 2020, XEJCC made a strategic decision. It abandoned its separate format as El Fonógrafo and instead began simulcasting sister station XHEM-FM 103.5. This move allowed for greater synergy between the two stations, pooling resources and expanding their collective reach. Now, listeners could enjoy a seamless blend of music, news, and entertainment across both frequencies.

XEJCC’s journey—from its humble beginnings to its current status as La Z—reflects the dynamic nature of radio broadcasting. As technology evolves and audience preferences shift, stations like XEJCC adapt to stay relevant while preserving their unique identity.
