My Red Comrade (Sinhala: රතු අතු අග), is a 2024 Sri Lankan Sinhalese political drama film directed by Sudath Mahaadivulwewa and produced by Red Circle Productions.[2][3] The film has only two lead roles, both made their debut cinema acting: Asiri Allage and Tharindi Fernando.[1][4][5]

The special media screening was shown at One Golfface PVR Cinema on 1 May 2024.[6] The film received positive reviews from critics for the theme and acting.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13]

Production and release[edit]

This is the second cinematic direction by Sudath Mahaadivulwewa after Sudu Kalu Saha Alu, which he directed 19 years ago in 2005.[14][15] The lead actor Asiri Allage suffered tortured violent years in a concentration camp in real life, who later became a professional creative Sinhala copywriter.[7]

Cinematography done by Ruwan Costa and edited by Ajith Ramanayake. Cinematography completed in a different format within four days, using only two characters, on the same backdrop of Sarasaviya Studio of the National Film Corporation.[1] Art direction done by Manjula Ayagama, Sound design by Sasika Marasinghe, and color combination by Tissa Surendra. Dinesh Lakdusinghe is the assistant director, Nimal Wijesiri Senadhira is the production manager and Darshi Gamage is the line producer. Composition done by Samarasiri Kandanage, and lyrics by director himself. Nadeeka Guruge is the music director, where he also made background vocals.[4][16]
