Vallur Nott Srinivasa Rao was a 20th-century legal historian, and member of the Calamur family. His legal writing has been highly regarded, with The Hindu describing him as "the best writer" among court historians[1] Rao's writings were published in an edited collection Lives of the Chief Justices of Madras: During the British Rule and Other Essays[2]
