Shiftboard is a software company specializing in employee scheduling software for shift work. The company serves a diverse range of sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and the public sector. The company offers work schedule solutions designed to optimize workforce efficiency, enhance compliance, and improve employee well-being. Shiftboard is headquartered in Seattle and has an office in Vancouver, Canada.

As of 2024, Shiftboard has supported approximately 680 million scheduled shifts for thousands of customers, including many Fortune 500 companies, providing the employment pipeline for more than $72.5 billion in wages earned.

As employee scheduling software that is similar to a job board, communications, or other online forum, Shiftboard provides work portals that are used by large and small civic, non-profit/arts, charity, global healthcare, municipal, and staffing organizations.[1]

Shiftboard is an active member of the open source software community[2] and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, USA.[3]

In 2015 Sterling Wilson was appointed the CEO of Shiftboard.[4] In March 2016, Shiftboard raised $4 million in a funding round led by Voyager Capital.[5] For the next few years, the company grew its leadership team, gained new partners and expanded to Europe.[6]

The company secured $11.5 million Series A funding in 2018 marked a significant milestone, enabling Shiftboard to accelerate its technology development and expand its market presence.[7] The same year, Shiftboard released a compliance automation offering to help businesses efficiently create schedules that comply with the latest schedule regulations.[8]

In 2019, Shiftboard introduced its mobile-first user experience.[9]

In 2020, Shiftboard merged with SchedulePro, a step that integrated the capabilities of both companies in the area of AI-powered workforce scheduling solutions.[10][11] The merger was supported by an additional $8 million in funding from New Road, Voyager and other existing investors, underscoring the combined company's potential to lead the market.

State of the Hourly Worker Report (2023)

Since 2019, Shiftboard has been surveying American workers to gauge their perspectives and needs.[14] In 2023, the company released its State of the Hourly Worker Report, which offered insights into hourly employee preferences, how employees relate to their work schedules, and how implementing strategies to address workers’ needs can significantly impact job satisfaction and engagement.[15]

The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the changing landscape of work, marked by significant events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Great Resignation, and global conflicts.[16]
