Frank P. Dwyer

Frank P. Dwyer is an American sportscaster and retired school teacher.
From 1979 to 1992 Dwyer was an American Thoroughbred assistant track announcer for the New York Racing Association’s three primary race tracks: Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Saratoga Race Course. During his tenure at NYRA, he shared duties with Marshall Cassidy.
For many years Dwyer also was a fill-in host for the legendary Harvey Pack on the daily afternoon horse racing recap sports shows “Thoroughbred Action” and “Inside Racing” that aired on Sportschannel New York.
In addition, Dwyer has continued to be the voice of the Spring Aiken Steeplechase [1] in South Carolina for more than 40 years, as well as the Aiken Fall Steeplechase since its inception in 1991. He also called steeplechase races in Camden, SC, as well as the Charleston Cup.
Prior to his calling races for NYRA, Dwyer worked in the publicity department at Hialeah Park Race Track.
After his NYRA announcing career, he became a high school AP Gov teacher in New York and retired in 2019 after a 20-year career teaching at Brooklyn Technical High School.
He volunteers at Floral Park Public Library in New York and does community outreach work in Brooklyn.

Dwyer played baseball in college, including his final two years for the legendary coach and college sports administrator Norm Kaye. He graduated in 1968 from St. Leo University in Florida.
