Jo Smith (writer)

Jo Smith (d 2 December 1954) was an Australian playwright who wrote a number of popular melodramas.[1][2]

Smith was born in Mebourne. He worked as an actor, writer and businessman. His first play was The Miner's Trust. He wrote several successful plays.[3]

Smith donated money from his plays Before the Dawn and The Reville to soldier organisations.[4][5]

Then he went into the furniture business and was successful.[6]

Smith died in 1954.[7] He was survived by two daughters.[8]
