Pille Pürg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pille Pürg (born 9 March 1972 in Tartu)[1] is an Estonian actress, comedian and parodist.[2]

Pürg admits in her book "Pisarais päikesetüdruk" ("Sunshine Girl in Tears") that she was bullied in school. The bullying occurred in seventh grade and was orchestrated by girls from the eleventh grade. Pürg suffered from a condition called alopecia, resulting in hair loss. Initially, she experienced patches of hair loss, finding clumps of hair in her hands when combing. As a result, she wore a wig to school for two and a half years. The wig was of good quality, made by a wig maker from Vanemuine Theatre, but the cause of hair loss remained unknown. [3]

Pürg graduated from Tartu Secondary School No. 5 in 1990. In 2012, she graduated from the Helsinki Theatre Academy with a degree in television and comedy acting.[4]

From 1991 until 2003, Pürg worked at Vanalinnastuudio in Tallinn as an actress and performance director. She later worked at the Old Baskin's Theatre in Tallinn as a contracted actress. Pürg works predominantly in Estonia, as well as in Finland.[5] She has performed on comedy tours with Madis Milling and Henrik Normann since 2005.[4]
