The club was founded on January 4, 1919, as Speller Fußballverein, and later merged with Sportverein Venhaus in 1970 to form the current club, SC Spelle-Venhaus. Throughout its history, the club has experienced both successes and challenges.
In the 1980s, SC Spelle-Venhaus achieved significant accomplishments by earning promotions to the highest amateur leagues in Lower Saxony. The team played in the Oberliga Niedersachsen/Bremen for several seasons, which was then the fourth tier of German football.
