Mirpur DOHS[1] is a Neighbourhood of Dhaka North, situated in Mirpur Thana of Dhaka City.[2] The area is under the jurisdiction of Pallabi Thana Police Station.[3][4]

The administration of the area is under the Cantonment Board, Dhaka.

The Neighbourhood is located close to Mirpur Cantonment.[5] The Postal Code for Mirpur DOHS is 1216.

History[edit]

In the 19th Century, This area was a Hindu temple which was later made smaller around the 20th Century, and it was damaged during the Liberation War, Previously, this area was a wetland. Boats were used for transportation to go to other directions, including military vehicles needed to cross until 2012, then after infrastructure was being built. The area is governed by Mirpur DOHS (Defence Officers' Housing Society) parishad. It is the largest in the country with a total of 1290 individual lots.[6] The Government of Bangladesh allocated 37 lots to the relatives of 37 officers killed in the 2009 BDR Mutiny and an additional 20 apartments were allocated to ten families, 2 each.[7][8] |url=http://www.theindependentbd.com/home/printnews/13106%7Cnewspaper=The Independent|accessdate=2 August 2017}}</ref> Mirpur DOHS Porishod is the Security Force of Mirpur DOHS, it has about a thousands members. With having 2 tata pick up trucks and over 50 Motorcycle for security.
