awesome. bored.

Jess and I rigged the taxi cab for the the low budget non-existant process trailer.  Benoît Debie is our DP and he is fairly easy to please, and with 8 little hand dimmers and a several colored rope lights taped to the inside back windows of the taxi cab, he was happy.  Of course it somehow took production 8 hours to get us a 750watt inverter.  And eventually it overheated.  But Benoit really took to using a flashlight with LCT Yellow gel on it and the dimmers were at his disposal as he pulled focus and flashed lights, cramped inside the taxi.
Also once we wired the inverter to the front grill of the car it stopped overheating and was able to give us our 2amps that we wanted for the 8 rope lights.  Heat is not your friend.  I feel something of a malaise about this show.  It’s moving along I suppose.  It’s just another week of one’s life.  One week at a time.  The widescreen TV Zoe’s dad loaned us wouldn’t display Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon in the native 1.66:1 ratio. Very strange.  1.78:1 stuff seems to be fine.  1.85 and 2.35 seem to work as well.  I’m not sure.  Aspect ratios and video transfers are a funny thing.  I’ve thought to go as far as build an HTPC for it that will go DVI out.  The main problem seems to be that the tv isn’t a true 16:9 but rather 15:9.  Time will tell.  A cheap HTPC is probably a decent option if we hope to watch any of season 3 of the OC considering that we missed almost all of it.  The last half of the season finale was pretty awesome though.  I am so glad Marissa Cooper is dead.  She was never good enough for Ryan.  She was such a slut.  I’m telling you.

I can quit you.

Okay. So I have a day off. My mySQL database for this blog is back up fine. ramsey.marybicycles.com and dickdavis.marybicycles.com are up. Dreamhost.com is my new server. They seem pretty reasonable. Rory Sheridan recommended them to me.

The film “Day Zero” I’ve been working on is finishing up its last 2 days, Shawn and I start a new feature on Monday 5am with French Belgian cinematographer Benoît Debie he shot Irreversible (2002). Anyhow, I think Meg and Matt will do alright finishing up the last 2 days and the check-in on Day Zero. The new apartment is nice. I should post some pictures. My Flickr RSS photo plugin isn’t back up yet for some reason. I’ll work on that. Internet is spotty in this deeply Polish pocket of Greenpoint. Zoe made some really good French toast this morning with apples and cheddar cheese. We have about 60 fluid ounces of grade A maple syrup left to drink (yes, CostCo). Her Dad’s television arrived. It makes both Ryan Atwood on the OC and Robert Redford in “3 Days of the Condor” look equally amazing.

you can see my nose in People Magazine…

my 15 seconds will be up soon. The photos of Elijah Wood in character downtown during the anti-war protests showed up on the web with the Key Grip Jeff and I in the background from this source http://patsie.livejournal.com/310886.html of paparazzi photos linked via http://pinkisthenewblog.com. If you look in the latest issue of People magazine Jeff the Key Grip is very clearly in the background, and the inserted text over my face, my nose is clearly visible. Awesome. Anway, the low budget film is going. Painful, but going. Elijah is gone, with his sweetness. We have Chris Klein, Ginnifer Goodwin, and some others that will make the modern going to war story complete. We had a very long day. Went to Fort Totten and beautiful Duglaston, Queens, where I have fond memories of working for full rate sleeping in the condor in the trees with birds chirping. At one point we had a camera rigged to the side of a taxi cab until it got “bumped” against a truck mirror. Our DP called a wrap on the camera rig. Marcus brought the 30″ widescreen LCD. I am almost as rich and happy as the people of Duglaston, Queens. ps. The move went Zoe. Zoe and I have a cute new place.
